Carsten leads the commercial and engineering disciplines of BWEA.

Carsten is a Certified Competent Person and a Qualified Reserves Auditor with over 38 years of global oil industry experience spanning leadership and project management positions, reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, joint venture management, Reserves & Resources classification, categorisation and economic evaluation; gained in international and national oil operating companies and energy consultancy.

From 2015 to 2020, Carsten was Principal Technical Lead and Principal Commercial Reservoir Engineer within the global Transactional Advisory and Commercial Services and Subsurface Groups of Senergy / Lloyd’s Register. During this tenure, he continued to demonstrate excellence in hands-on subsurface technical work, project management and technical audit of commercial advisory services and global due diligence and Reserves audits and certification compliant with industry standards and finance exchange guidelines and requirements. His achievements included among others sign-off on Competent Person’s Reports (CPR’s) on portfolios having an aggregate acquisition price in excess of US$ 10 Billion and net 2P reserves exceeding 1 Billion boe.

Carsten has a proven track record of international operational experience across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East gained through various managerial and technical positions within Lloyd’s Register / Senergy, Tullow Oil, Statoil (now Equinor), Norsk Hydro (now Equinor) and DONG Energy (now INEOS). His experience covers among others both conventional and unconventional reservoirs, extreme high- pressure high temperature (eHPHT) reservoirs, waxy/high pour point fluids, black and volatile oil, rich and lean gas condensate, geo-steering, 4D seismic, Improved Oil Recovery (IOR) by means of water flooding and Simultaneous Water and Gas (SWAG) injection. In-depth hands-on experience within applied reservoir and petroleum engineering, oil and gas asset technical due diligence and petroleum Resources/Reserves evaluation and valuation as well as exploration prospect portfolio assessment, appraisal campaign value-of- information optimization, green and brown field development activities, reservoir-, production- and asset management.

Carsten is a member in good standing of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
