Jon leads the geoscience disciplines of BWEA.
Jon is a highly experienced, and business focused Principal Geophysicist and Technical Project Manager with a strong record of achievement and extensive exposure to international exploration and exploitation projects. Jon has over 30 years of industry experience with both operating energy companies and premium consulting companies, and an ability to work in both leadership and technical roles to scope and deliver successful projects within time frames and budgets.
From 2012 to 2020, Jon was Principal Geophysicist working within both the Transactional Advisory and Commercial Services and Subsurface Groups of Senergy / Lloyd’s Register. His responsibilities included project management, leading technical and commercial studies and evaluations and hands-on geoscience work. In 2009 Jon’s Gesoscience Management role relocated from Senergy’s London office to Abu Dhabi where he was part of the small team responsible for establishing and running the Middle East office. Jon joined Senergy precursor company Reservoir Management Limited in London in 2004, having previously worked for Gaffney, Cline and Associates, Marathon Oil, Petrobras UK, Chevron and Amerada Hess. Jon started his career with Seismograph Service Limited in the UK and Oman.
Jon has a demonstrable record of technical excellence and creativity making a material difference to geoscience and subsurface challenges. Having a working knowledge of many petroleum basins in the world, Jon is equally happy when involved with major integrated studies or with short-fuse, data-room style evaluations. Experienced in the evaluation and modelling of clastic and carbonate reservoirs, including acting as technical lead on a number of fractured reservoir studies. Jon is also a highly experienced Petrel user for geophysics, mapping and geocellular modelling ranging across producing reservoirs to quick-look asset reviews and evaluations.
Jon possesses significant in-depth, hands-on experience within oil and gas asset technical due diligence and Resources/Reserves assessment, classification and valuation. He has managed numerous technical and commercial projects from exploration portfolio assessments and work programme/strategy formulation, asset appraisal and development studies to Competent Person’s Reports (CPR’s) and technical due-diligence projects. He also has experience with Expert Witness work.
Jon is a Chartered Geologist and Fellow of The Geological Society of London. He is also recognised as a Certified Petroleum Geophysicist by the AAPG’s Division of Professional Affairs (DPA), and is a Member of GESGB and on the committee of the Risk, Resources, Economics and Commercial Special Interest Group.
